Development Blog 29 More Inventory Space & Chaos Scroll Rework

We just wrapped up our fourth month of alpha testing. Last month, our goals were to address inventory space and implement Fast Travel. We managed to wrap up our solution for inventory space and do a rework of Chaos Scroll. However, we were not able to wrap up Fast Travel due to being blindsided by the emergency migration by our host and Magik's time constraint for the month.

Inventory Space:

As many of you have mentioned, inventory space has been an issue. We've made a handful of changes to ensure that you have enough space. We've increased the max number of potions you can hold and fixed excessive scroll drops to help reduce inventory clutter. But our true solution to this is to do the obvious which is giving extra inventory space. No gimmicks. No storage. Just flat out more inventory slots. We've increased max inventory slots from 96 to 128, and the expanded inventory can now be scrolled through.

Chaos Scroll Rework:

We heard some discussion about the lack of utility for Chaos Scrolls after our scrolls revamp.While it was nice that Chaos Scrolls could no longer reduce stats, their usefulness became very limited after they were restricted to accessories. Since most accessories don't naturally have W. ATK or M. ATK, there simply weren't many situations where players wanted to use them. We've altered the scroll in a few ways to make these feasible.

We've updated the scroll from a success rate of 60% to 70% to be more in line with the rest of our scroll changes, and we've also updated it so that it rolls 3 stats. Here is how it works:

The goal of this rework was to make Accessory Chaos Scrolls become part of the progression rather than a niche item with very limited use cases.

Goals for June:
While we didn't hit every goal we set for May, we're happy with the progress we've made. With the server now back online and our Alpha Roadmap published, we're ready to shift our focus toward June.

While the emergency migration and rollback were certainly frustrating, they highlighted an important weakness in our infrastructure. We've already begun improving our backup process and recovery procedures to ensure we're much better prepared going forward.

Here are our goals for June:

  • Fast Travel: The core system for this is done. We just need to add the quests for unlocking each area.
  • Wild Hunter (1st & 2nd Job): We will start implementing Wild Hunter and get 1st and 2nd job completely working.
  • Rework Defense System: DangerStory! Defense should matter. We're reworking the system so that defensive stats are actually valuable. Get ready for things to hit harder.
